Hoyop-Hoyopan Cave is one of the most popular destinations in the province. It is located at Brgy. Cotmon, Camalig, Albay and is named because of a peculiar coincidence. The word ‘hoyop’ is a Bicolano word meaning ‘blow’. This comes from the fact that there are whistling sounds made by the wind at the entrance.
Besides the whimsical whistles made by the wind, the cave has bat residents. But they are quiet as they’re both blind and mute. The noise you can possibly hear are people shouting to check their echoes inside.
Hoyop-Hoyopan has been well-maintained and it can be seen by the rock formations that are untouched, well-preserved, and protected. Before being an eco-tourism destination, it held value in history. There were jars found inside the cave that are now located in the National Museum.
If you want to see a beautiful touch of the earth while enjoying history, you should visit Hoyop-Hoyopan now!
